The House of Representatives on Thursday passed for second reading, a proposed bill for the establishment of National Youth Service Corps Trust Fund (NYSCTF).
The bill was being sponsored by Hon Akinfolarin Mayowa Samuel (APC-Ondo).
While presenting the motion, the lawmaker said that the essence for the proposed NYSC Trust Fund was to provide a sustainable source of funds for National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) skills acquisition, training and empowerment of Corps members.

He stated that the fund would equally provide for the training and retraining of the Personnel of National Youth Service Corps, development of Orientation camps and NYSC formations and facilities in the country.
According to him, “In the early years of the establishment of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), the scheme has been able to carry out diligently its objectives under the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Act.
“The management of the scheme has not only trained, equipped and empowered corps members enrolled under the scheme alone, but had instilled patriotism and the spirit of nationalism in corps members.”
The Bill scaled Second reading and was referred to the House Committee on Youths Development for further legislative action.
