Reps member begs Niger govt to rehabiliate Lapai, Gulu, Muye roads

Member House of Representatives, representing Lapai/Agaie federal constituency of Niger State at the National Assembly, Abuja, Hon. Abdullahi Mahmoud has appealed to the State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago to consider Lapai, Gulu, and Muye roads in the recently signed roads contracts by the State Government.

The federal legislator made the appeal while speaking to journalists at Muye in Lapai local government area of the State during an inspection tour of a collapsed retaining wall along River Gurara.

He however lamented over the deplorable state of the roads in the council areas over the years without the intervention of the immediate past administration whom he accused of paying lip service nor completely paying no attention to the plights of the motorists plying the roads in his Constituents.

Hon. Abdullahi Mahmoud emphasized the need to take into cognizance the sufferings of the citizens of this community, highlighting that the route is also a shortcut to Kogi State, adding that the reconstruction of the roads, would ease transportation and improve economic activities of the area.

It be recalled that Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago last week signed 556-kilometer road contracts with no fewer than 37 contractors for the construction of 257 roads in the 25 local government areas of Niger.
