Reps appoint new chairman for South-West development commission

The leadership of House of Representatives has approved the appointment of Hon. Akeem Adeyemi as Chairman of South West Development Commission.

Chairman, House Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Hon. Akin Rotimi confirmed this via a statement made available to Saturday Tribune.

He said: “This week, the House of Representatives announced minor adjustments to the leadership of its Standing Committees, with 8 new Chairpersons and 8 Deputy Chairmen appointed.

“This development follows the signing of additional Regional Development Commission Bills into law by Mr. President.

“In line with our commitment to effective oversight and legislative support for the Commissions, the 10th House Leadership has taken this step to ensure they receive the necessary parliamentary backing to fulfill their mandates.”

According to the details obtained by Saturday Tribune, Hon. Clement Ademola (PDP-Osun) was appointed as Deputy Chairman of House Committee on South West Development Commission.

In the same vein, Hon. Raheem Tunji
Olawuyi (APC-Kwara) was appointed as the Chairman, North Central Development Commission while Hon. Donald Ojogo (APC, Ondo) was appointed as the Deputy Chairman.

With relations to the change in the leadership of the Standing Committees, the Speaker approved the appointment of Hon. Gboyega Isiaka (APC, Ogun) as Chairman, House Committee on National Planning and Economic Development; and Hon. Akinlade Abiodun Isiaq (APC, Ogun) as chairman, House Committee on Agricultural Colleges and Institutions.

Also on the list of the new appointees are: Hon. Mustapha Ghali (NNPP, Kano) as chairman, House Committee on Ethics and Privileges; Hon. Gabriel Zoch (APC, Kaduna) as Chairman House Committee on Culture; Hon. Kareem Abisodun (APC, Oyo) as Chairman, House Committee on Aviation Technology; Hon. Ahmed Aluko (APC, Kwara) as Deputy Chairman, House Committee on Gas Resources; Hon. Abdulmaleek Danga (PDP, Kogi) as Deputy Chairman, House Committee on Privatisation and Commercialisation; Hon. Shehu Tafoki (APC, Katsina) as Deputy Chairman, House Committee on TETFund and other Services as well as Hon. Matthew Nwogu (LP, Imo) as Deputy Chairman, House Committee on Public Petitions.

Also appointed newly are: Hon. Jesse Onuakhalusi (LP, Lagos) as Deputy Chairman, House Committee on Internal Security (National Assembly); Hon. Tolulope Akande-Sadipe (APC, Oyo) as Chairperson, House Committee on Humanitarian Services; Hon. Mohammed Bargaja (PDP, Sokoto) as
Deputy Chairman, House Committee on Reformatory Institutions; and Hon. Kafilat Ogbara (APC, Lagos) as South-West Representative of National Legislative Studies and Democratic Studies (NILDS).
