Prince Abiodun Derin Adesida, the member representing Akure South/North Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, is set to distribute over 2,000 bags of fertilizers to farmers in the constituency.

Adesida, who represents Akure North/Akure South Federal Constituency of Ondo State in the lower chamber of the National Assembly, stated that the distribution of the fertilizers is part of efforts to ensure food security and promote agriculture in the constituency.

The media consultant, Oyewamide Ojo, disclosed that the office of the lawmaker received the delivery about two days ago, and the fertilizers will be distributed to farmers’ unions from the two local government areas within the constituency.

Oyewamide said that farmers from communities in both Akure North and Akure South Local Government Areas, which make up the federal constituency, would benefit from the distribution.

The media consultant quoted Adesida as saying, “In a couple of days, we will distribute the fertilizers. My constituency office in Akure received them about one and a half weeks ago.

“Farmers from our federal constituency will be the beneficiaries of this agricultural intervention. We will ensure that those who really need the chemicals receive them. It is part of the efforts to achieve national food security.

“Nigeria is a blessed nation. We enjoy divine favor. We have a climatic advantage. Our soils are good and fertile for agriculture. Of course, agriculture used to be the mainstay of our economy.

“We are naturally endowed enough to feed ourselves. We are not lazy. All we need is encouragement and assistance. So, our farmers must be given every necessary encouragement and support. That’s what we are doing.

“This is not the only support that farmers in the area will receive, but I urge them all to register with their various Farmers’ Associations in the local government areas to ensure that all farmers are captured in the exercise.”

Adesida solicited the understanding, patience, and cooperation of his constituents, reiterating his promise of purposeful and productive representation.
