Remo Day celebration will showcase unique cultural heritage — Group

A socio-economic group, the Remo Growth Development Foundation (RemoGDF), has announced that the maiden edition of the Remo Day celebration is scheduled to take place from December 20 to 27. This event will showcase the rich cultural heritage of the Remo people.

The Chairman of RemoGDF, Otunba Seni Adetutu, made this announcement at a press conference heralding the maiden edition of the celebration, which was held at the Akarigbo’s Palace conference hall in Sagamu on Wednesday.

Adetutu, flanked by the Chairman of the Planning Committee, Prince Wole Sowole, and other notable members of the group, stated that the three-day event aims to celebrate the cultural festival and traditions of the Remo people.

He noted that RemoGDF has achieved significant milestones in line with the vision of the Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of Remoland, Oba Babatunde Ajayi, within its short period of existence.

He added that the mission of establishing the Foundation was born out of the monarch’s desire to develop Remoland into a destination that is economically prosperous, socially stable, and, more importantly, a safe haven.

He said, “Remoland originally had thirty-three (33) towns, but it has now grown to forty-seven (47) towns and villages.” He further stated that Remo is known for its vibrant traditional culture, which includes cultural festivals, oral history, music, and dance.

Sowole, who also serves as the 1st Vice Chairman of RemoGDF, stated that the event will feature exciting programs such as an art exhibition, dance drama, and captivating narration of the origin and history of Remoland, concluding with a grand finale and rally on Friday, December 27, 2024.

He concluded that “the event has been strategically planned for December 2024 to facilitate participation from Remonians in the Diaspora and to strengthen community bonds by engaging Remo indigenes at home and abroad, fostering a sense of pride in Remo and ownership of the community’s growth and unity.”
