Religious leaders tasked on honesty, obedience to law

GOVERNOR of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, has tasked religious leaders in Nigeria to use their sacred positions and influence to emphasise the need for their followers to be honest and law-abiding in search of their means of livelihood.

Makinde made the charge recently during a special dinner organised as part of activities to round off the 2020 Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Cherubim and Seraphim Unification Church of Nigeria which held in Ibadan.

The governor, who was represented by his Executive Assistant, Idowu Ogedengbe, noted that Nigerians were quick to obey religious leaders stating that the same should be the case between the government and the governed.

He commended the C&S Unification for not relenting in preaching the undiluted words of God using hymns, songs and exhibiting same in their way of life.

Makinde implored worshippers from other denominations and religious bodies to follow suit by replicating same in handling public affairs to enable the country to egain its lost glory.

The founder of New Seraphs Initiative in the Cherubim and Seraphim Church Worldwide, Dr Mrs Oluwaseye Yomi-Sholeye expressed joy, saying that Cherubim and Seraphim churches believe in one Lord, one baptism and God the father of all.

Prophetess Yomi-Sholoye, represented by the Bishop of the New Seraph, Bishop Adefemi Adepoju, said though the nation is facing various challenges, but if people could do away with sins and call upon  God, Nigeria will not only overcome her numerous challenges but also stand tall among the comity of nations.

The 2020 AGM dinner had in attendance dignitaries from all walks of life, the Aladuras and top-notch leaders of the white garment church within and outside Nigeria.
