Regard your job as God’s calling, teachers implored

TEACHERS have been advised to take their work as God’s calling and lay enviable legacy.

The Missioner of the Muslim Teachers Association of Nigeria (MUTAN), Alhaji Tajudeen Oladoyin, gave the advice while delivering a sermon at the retirement ceremony of the Secretary General of MUTAN, Alhaji Hassan Agbaje, at Surulere Senior Secondary School, Alagbado, Lagos.

He said teachers have a big role to play in national development as their job is about making positive changes in the lives of others.

According to Oladoyin, the work of teachers is so important that no salary can compensate them. Only Allah can sufficiently reward them, he said.

He, therefore, asked teachers to work because of Allah, saying their reward will not elude them.

Alhaji Agbaje, who retired upon attaining the statutory age of 60, started his career in the Lagos State Civil Service as a classroom teacher on May 10, 1991.

He retired as a Director of Education and Vice Principal, Academic, at Surulere Senior Secondary School, Alagbado, Lagos.

An activist with the Muslim Students’ Society (MSSN) in his student’s days in the Old Oyo State, Agbaje served as the Secretary of MUTAN for close to a decade.

The chairman of MUTAN, Alhaji Raheem Jimoh, described Agbaje as a hard worker who always carried out responsibilities cheerfully without complaining.
