Members of the Association of Licensed Private Security Practitioners of Nigeria (ALPSPN) Abia State Chapter have been advised to redouble their efforts in intelligence information gathering to justify the recommendation of the Corps which was instrumental to their establishment.
The Abia State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Paul Ozoemene Igwebuike handed down this charge today when he received members of the association who paid him a visit at the Command Headquarters in Umuahia.
Igwebuike noted that the operatives of the licensed Private Security Companies have advantage of occupying the lower level of security arrangements in the country and should constantly feed the Corps with actionable intelligence information .
“We are aware that security tendering is an onerous task and area where no individual or agency of government can claim monopoly of knowledge and strategy.
“Your employees are even closer to the residents/locals who volunteer useful security information hence, you are expected to regularly transmit intelligence information to the Corps for further processing and possible action,“ the Commandant said.
The NSCDC Boss noted, “The criminals and miscreants live among us. They are not ghosts but we need to sharpen our intelligence information gathering network and distribution channels to put them in check“.
He assured them that the issue of quackery will no longer thrive adding that the Commandant General, Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi has emplaced measures to rid the industry of quacks and urged them to provide necessary information that will help the Corps in that regard.
He tasked them to make regular applications for training for possible consideration noting that training and retraining are prerequisites for effective security service delivery.
Earlier in his speech, the ALPSPN Chairman, Mr Ndubuisi Iheanacho and Dr Obi Chukwunazom Cyra, (Director, Trustlink Ventures Limited) informed the State Commandant of the worrisome dimension of quackery in the industry which they described as a major challenge confronting the organization and solicited the Commandant’s intervention to save the industry.
They pledged the association’s readiness to continue to work closely with the Corps to improve on the security of the State.
