The awaited Oyo State Post Primary School Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM)’s Computer-Based Test (CBT) for applicants in the ongoing recruitment exercise for teaching and non-teaching staff of secondary schools in Oyo State has scheduled to commence on Monday, July 29 through August 2, 2024.
The chairman of the commission, Pastor Akinade Alamu, stated this in Ibadan today, during a press conference held at the TESCOM Conference room.
According to Pastor Alamu, a total of 62,000 applicants were gathered through the online application exercise to partake in the CBT for both the teaching and non-teaching positions.
He hinted that while 50,000 applicants put in for the teaching positions, the remaining 12,000 applicants put in for the non-teaching ones.
Alamu described Governor Seyi Makinde as a lover of Education, who saw the vacuum in secondary schools as one that must be filled, despite its recruitment exercise about four years ago.
The chairman disclosed that the commission has set up an inter-ministerial committee comprising relevant agencies such as Ministry of Education, Ministry of Establishment, Office of the Head of Service and Ministry of Finance for the execution of the recruitment exercise.
Stressing the commission’s commitment to a credible exercise, he charged the applicants to not to rely on second-hand information.
While he disclosed that specific date and time for individual applicants is now ready, he urged applicants to visit the TESCOM portal to print out their CBT Examination Slips bearing their names, passports and examination dates/time, which he noted they must present before they are allowed into the examination hall.
He advised the applicants to be orderly as directed on their slips regarding their stipulated dates and timing so as to avoid any form of mix up, adding that “loitering around the examination centre will not be condoned.”
He revealed that the venue for the examination is University of Ibadan (UI) Distance Learning Centre(DLC) Computer Based Testing Centre at Ajibode, Ibadan.
“The commission has approved that the UI DLC CBT centre should conduct the computer-based tests for the applicants because of its pedigree in such exercises,” he said.
The chairman added that successful candidates from CBT will be required to appear before the committee for an oral interview.
Meanwhile, Pastor Alamu said necessary arrangements have been made by the commission in terms of security; health care services with a stand by ambulance, as well as tents and chairs for applicants to have a seamless CBT exercise from the first till the last day of the examination.
