The Nigeria Police is to subject successful candidates in the ongoing recruitment exercise to compulsory polygraph test (lie detector test.)
The test will be in addition to the general background check, biometrics, medical, physical examination, aptitude, oral and psychological tests.
The force will also conduct a thorough verification of all documents submitted by prospective candidates.
Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, gave the directive while reviewing the recruitment exercise and expressed satisfaction with the progress made in recruiting 10,000 personnel into the police .
The IGP said no candidate would be admitted for training at the Police Academy and colleges without undergoing these prescribed tests.
According to him, the polygraph test was aimed at ensuring that candidates were not of questionable character and that their behaviours conformed with standard rules of behaviour expected of an officer to be recruited into the Force.
He said the Police Academy and other training colleges across the country would be equipped to carry out the necessary tests.
