Reckless driver kills father, two children in Ogun

identTragedy struck in the early hours of Friday, as a truck belonging to a giant cement company, killed a man and his two children at Oru, in Ijebu North Local Government Area of Ogun State.

The incident, Saturday Tribune learnt, happened at about 7.30am, when the man was conveying his three children to Itamerin Secondary School, Oru Ijebu.

The victims were said to have died on the spot, while one of the passengers survived the accident and was taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention.

The  accident involved an orange colour, SAHCMAN Truck and a Jicheng AX100 Motorcycle with registration number OG 7613 BA.

The accident was said to have been caused by excessive speeding and dangerous driving on the part of the truck driver. The truck driver was said to   have been on the run.

The Public Education Officer, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Route Commander, Florence Okpe, said the bodies of the deceased had been evacuated and deposited at a mortuary in Ijebu Igbo.

Meanwhile, students of the school and angry mob had set ablaze the ill-fated truck and destroyed another truck that drove into the scene.

It took the intervention of security agencies to bring the situation under control.
