The initiative under the “Clean Healthy Naija” programme encompasses a number of steps geared towards awareness creation, education and behavioural change to achieve a cleaner and healthier Nigeria.
RB’s Senior Vice President for Africa, Mr. Ataur Rashid Safdar, stated this when he led the RB’s delegation on a courtesy visit to Ogun State governor, Governor Ibikunle Amosun as part of activities marking the World Health Day.
Safdar said the “Clean Healthy Naija” initiative, is aimed at reducing child mortality from preventable diseases like diarrhoea and malaria in line with United Nations Sustainable Development Goals of 2030 while putting an end to open defecation in the country.
Sadfar also informed the governor that the company will later in the year, commission a world class redistribution warehouse as part of the new marketing strategy to distribute their products across Nigeria and West Africa.
Managing Director, RB, West Africa, Rahul Murgai, who described Nigeria as one of the most important market, maintained that celebrating the 2017 World Health Day in Ogun State is paramount to the company because the state remains the gateway to the nation and the West African sub-region.
Chairman of the Company, Chief Olu Falomo who commended the giant strides recorded by Governor Ibikunle Amosun’s administration in the last six years, urging Nigerians to ensure they remain “medically clean” by using the company’s products.
Governor of Ogun State, Ibikunle Amosun lauded RB for the commendable initiative and reiterated his government’s commitment to providing a safer environment that will guarantee robust and healthier lifestyle for Nigerians.
Earlier, Ogun State Commissioner for health, Dr Babatunde Ipaye said the year’s World Health Day was aimed at mobilising necessary human and financial support to tackle depression.
According to him, this was imperative given increasing cases of persons with depression globally.
Dr Ipaye described depression as a leading cause of death in the world and increasingly becoming more a challenge in persons between age 18 and 30 years due to growing poverty, social decadency and unemployment.
He assured that Ogun State was very mental health friendly as the government pays salary regularly and creates opportunities for employment though its industrial development drive.
He assured of Ogun state commitment to care of persons with mental health problems, adding that the state’s community mental health had also been taken care of persons with mental health problem found roaming the street.
