The news of the death of the President-General of Ohaneze Ndigbo (worldwide), Chief Emmanuel Chukwuemeka Iwuanyanwu, has provoked chains of reactions from a number of prominent Nigerians and organizations as well as youth bodies in the country.
Fondly called Ahaejiagamba Ndigbo, Chief Iwuanyanwu according to a release by the family died at the age of 82 years on Thursday 25th July, 2024 after a brief illness.
Chief Iwuanyanwu hailed from Umuohii Atta in Ikeduru Local Government Area of Imo State.
Reacting, the former Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere, in a telephone chat with our correspondent, described the death as a colossal loss to the family, the nation at large, especially the Igbos. He added that the nation needed his wealth of experience now to wriggle out of her current socio-economic and political quagmire.
He said that Chief Iwuanyanwu has paid his dues in this nation adding that he deserves to be honoured.
He said: “We missed him”.
Also reacting, the Coalition of Nigerian Youth Leaders (CONYL), the umbrella body of all the youth groups in Nigeria, expressed shock over the news of the passing on of Iwuanyawu, Ahajiagamba Ndigbo.
In a statement issued on Thursday by the President General of CONYL, Comrade Goodluck Ibem, and the Publicity Secretary, Comrade Junaid Abubakar, they described the news of the death of the Igbo leader as devastating, painful and a big loss to Ndigbo, Nigeria and the world.
According to them, “Chief Iwuanyawu was a great philanthropist, an Engineer of great repute, an enigma of sort, a trailblazer, a problem solver, a goal getter and a man with an overflowing zeal to be a blessing to his people and his generation.”
They said: “We are really sad that we lost him at a time that his positive contribution to national growth and development is greatly needed. His departure has left a big vacuum in our political journey as a people and a nation”.
The body commiserated with the immediate family, the good people of Imo state, Ndigbo all over the world and Nigerians in general over this great loss.
They also pray God Almighty to give the family and his loved ones the fortitude to bear the loss.
They equally pray God Almighty to grant his soul eternal rest.
