Re: Woman slumps in Ibadan, rescued by police

Published by

Mrs Tawakalitu Adeyeye collapsed along the road because she was hungry and had not eaten anything for two days. The unfortunate situation in which the country has found itself is obviously responsible for this woman’s plight.

I urge President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Abiola Ajimobi to take an interest in this woman’s case and give her a job so that she will be able to feed herself and her family members.

Many Nigerians have silently died of hunger. Let me use  this opportunity to urge media advisers to draw the attention of the governors and president to the untold hardships facing the poor masses. Public office holders are entrusted with public funds and such funds must be used to assist the underprivileged.

Hunger is one huge problem facing the poor masses in Nigeria. The current economic turbulence has made many people to lose their jobs.

Some people cannot afford to pay house rent and the tuition fees of their children. I want to suggest that the government should establish a feeding centre for hungry Nigerians. The government needs to think about this.

We are not asking those in government to use their personal money to do this. Public funds should be used to feed the poor. It is only when a man is well-fed that he can think of other ingredients of life. The Yoruba say that if one can get regular meals, then poverty has ceased.

The Oyo State Police PRO, Mr. Adekunle Ajisebutu, has proven to be a caring police officer with his quick response to Mrs. Adeyeye’s situation and for alerting the DPO of Ikolaba to take the said woman to the nearest hospital for medical attention.

I was truly impressed when I read how Mr. Ajisebutu bought foodstuff for the woman and also donated cash to her. This is commendable. I also want to urge the PPRO to continue with this gesture.

Allah will continue to bless those who helped this woman to live, including the medical experts, richly. I want to call on Senator Abiola Ajimobi to think of how to feed those who are hungry so that they can live.
