Our attention has been drawn to your newspaper publication of No: 16,631, dated Friday, 11 November, 2016 on page 14, and on the above named subject.
One Oyalowo Opeyemi of Olonde Estate, Ologuneru, Ibadan wrote about the bad condition of the Eleyele-Ologuneru Road and its effect on the socio-economic situation of the area. She also cited the higher rate of accidents that do occur on the road, while appealing to the state government to help rehabilitate the deplorable road.
While we appreciate the writer for calling the attention of the state government to the condition of the road, we want to say that she has not been following the activities of the state government. Or that she is not aware that the government recently placed an advert on invitation for bids for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the said road in the same publication (Nigerian Tribune) of November 7, 2016, four days before the letter was published.
We want to state that the Senator Abiola Ajimobi administration is very committed to the welfare of the citizenry of our state at all times. Furthermore, as part of fulfillment of his electioneering promises, Governor Ajimobi recently awarded the contracts for the dualisation and expansion of four major roads in the state.
No doubt, the present administration in the state is concerned about the welfare of the entire citizens and understands the plight of the residents plying Eleyele-Ologuneru road. We, hereby, appeal to residents of this area to be more patient as the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the road will commence soonest.
