Razak shines as Epe celebrates 2018 Ojude Oba festival

Published by

THE people of Epe in Lagos State celebrated this year’s Ojude Oba festival with pomp and music, as the colourful event attracted the low and mighty from all walks of life.

The festival, being celebrated on the third day of Eid-el-Kabir, fell on Thursday, August 23 and it was held at the Epe Recreation Club on General Hospital Road.

The Oloja of Epe, Oba  Kamorudeen Ishola  Animashaun, was arrayed in glamour while sons and daughters of Epe, including the Balogun-General of Epe, who is also a Lagos East senatorial aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Lanre Razak (a. k. a KLM), were present.

Chief Razak, resplendent in pure white agbada and white cap to match, was on a horse ride to the occasion with members of his family, supporters, well-wishers and party loyalists.

The horse was decorated with damask, while the youths who led the entourage were waiving the blue and white flags.

Chief Razak acknowledged cheers from the well-wishers on his way to the Recreation Club venue of the epoch-making event.

The gun salutes and displays by the horse riders indeed announced the arrival of Balogun as people shouted “Dodondawa.”

After disembarking from the horse, KLM paid homage to the traditional ruler amid cheers from other chiefs and dignitaries.

Every corner of the venue was well decorated with different banners of various clubs and associations. Members of such clubs and associations as well as notable families in turn paid homage to the Oloja of Epe, Oba Animashaun.

Oba Animashaun used the occasion to urge people of Epe and other Lagos residents to support the second term bid of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, an Epe indigene, to make it a reality.

He also canvassed support for second term of Honourable Abiodun Tobun, a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Epe constituency 1.
