Ras Kimono for burial August 25

All is set for the burial of Reggae star, Ras Kimono on August 25, even as Delta and Lagos state governments are said to have indicated interest in the burial arrangements.

He died on June 10, 2018, in Lagos.

Family members of the artiste told reporters in Asaba, the Delta State capital that they had met with the governors of the two states, who promised to be part of activities marking the burial.

According to Mr. Theophelus Ehizibue accompanied by other members of the family, including Ras Kimono’s daughter, Esther, the burial activities commence on August 17, with a wake keep in his Lagos residence, to be followed by tributes/concerts by various groups, including the Association of Musical Band Members, Copyright of Nigeria, as well as a reggae jam in Lagos.

Nigerians will have the opportunity to pay the body their last respect at Blue Roof, in Alausa Ikeja Lagos before moving it to Asaba on Friday, August 24, where Rasters worldwide will organise a possession from Giddy’s place to the Cenotaph, where another lying-in-state is expected to take place.

Mr. Ehizibue said the body of Ras Kimono would be interred in his home-town, Onicha-Olona, in Aniocha North Local Government Area on August 25th.
