Ramadan: Pray for Abiodun to succeed as Ogun governor ― League of Imams tell Muslims

The League of Imam and Alfas in Ogun State has asked Muslim faithful to use the holy month of Ramadan to pray for the success of Prince Dapo Abiodun as governor of the state.

The League, in a press release signed by its President-General and Chief Imam of Egbaland, Alhaji Sheikh Imam Liadi Orunsolu, prayed that the Governor-elect continues the on “successes recorded by Governor Ibikunle Amosun.”

Orunsolu also urged all political leaders to be dedicated to the fight against the country’s challenges including “insecurity, poverty, illiteracy, inadequate health care and other essential services.”

While noting that Ramadan fasting is not just about avoiding food and drinks, Orunsolu urged Muslim faithful to strive for inner purification, self-accountability, righteousness, self-discipline and to devote themselves fully to the worship of Allah.

He stated that the holy month of Ramadan offers an “opportunity to engage in sober reflections and absolute return to Allah.

The release made available to Nigerian Tribune reads in part, “I enjoin all Muslims to devote themselves fully to the worship of Allah throughout the holy month, and use the period to pray for the progress, peace and prosperity of Ogun State and the nation, Nigeria.

“Muslims must seize the opportunity of this month to increase their love for humanity, acts of charity, kindness and generosity to their fellow men, and gratitude to Almighty Allah. We should use this opportunity to remember the less privileged and those going through certain life challenges.

“I urged all political office holders at all levels to be God fearing and be dedicated to finding solutions to the numerous challenges facing the nation which include but not limited to insecurity, poverty, illiteracy, inadequate health care and other essential services.

“I enjoin Muslims in Ogun State to pray for the incoming administration of our Governor-elect, Prince Dapo Abiodun for a successful, progressive and prosperous tenure as the governor of Ogun State.

“We thank Allah in appreciation of successes recorded by Governor Ibikunle Amosun. As he completes his tenure in office, we wish him more successes in future days of his life,” Orunsolu said.
