Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Kpotun-Idris
The Inspector-General of Police, Mr Ibrahim Idris, has urged Muslims to use the Ramadan period to pray for peace, unity and safe return of President Muhammad Buhari.
He made the call in a statement by the Force Spokesman, CSP Jimoh Moshood in Abuja on Friday.
He implored Muslims to take advantage of this year’s Ramadan fast to offer special prayers for leaders and to seek God’s solution to the current nation challenges.
He added that “Muslims and other Nigerians should use this period to pray fervently for Buhari’s safe return to enable him to deliver good governance he started.”
Idris said the fasting period was an era of sober reflection which gave Muslims opportunity to move closer to God and seek His face in supplication and prayers.
He noted that fasting was not a mere abstinence from food, drink and worldly pleasures alone, but a time to seek Allah’s power through prayers.
The police chief urged Muslims to use the period to re-evaluate their lives in the light of Islamic guidance in the interest of peace and national development.
He called on Nigerians, especially youths to be law abiding and respect constituted authority in the interest of peace and for the country to move forward.
The I-G also urged Nigerians to live in peace and tolerate one another, irrespective of ethnic, religious and political affiliation for the overall development of the country.
“I want to use this medium to enjoin Muslims in the country to rededicate themselves to service of God Al-mighty during this Holy month of Ramadan to ensure peace and national development,” he noted.
