The Emir of Bauchi, Alhaji Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu, flagged off the distribution of palliative items to less privileged and vulnerable persons in the Emirate on Monday.

The items are part of those donated to the state by the Aliko Dangote Foundation, aimed at alleviating the suffering currently being experienced by people.

Speaking at the venue of the distribution in his palace, the Emir commended the donors for their kind gesture, which he said would go a long way in bringing relief to the beneficiaries.

The Emir, who was represented by the District Head of Bauchi, Alhaji Nuru Adamu Jumba, called on other philanthropists to emulate this gesture, considering the economic situation in the country.

Rilwanu Adamu stated that prior to the commencement of the Ramadan fast, there was great concern about the challenges faced by many families who could barely afford to feed themselves.

In his remarks, the representative of the Aliko Dangote Foundation, Alhaji Sani Suleiman, disclosed that 250,000 10-kilogram bags of rice were donated to the state by the Foundation for onward distribution to the less privileged and vulnerable persons.
