The people of Ejiyan-Ekiti in the Irede Local Council Development Area (LCDA) of Ekiti state have appealed to the state government to assist the community following the destruction of property caused by rainstorm.
In a letter addressed to the deputy governor, Chief Monisade Afuye, the people on behalf of the traditional ruler, Oba Adekunle Adesesan Adepoju explained that the community suffered unimaginable losses arising from the last week’s natural disaster.
The letter was signed by the Chairman, Ejiyan-Ekiti Development Council, Chief Adepoju Ajibare and the Secretary, Ejiyan-Ekiti Community Development Council, Dele Aborishade.
While commending the deputy governor for the visit to Ejiyan and other communities affected by the rainstorm, the community revealed that buildings such as residential homes, business centres and the rest were largely affected.

They pleaded with the governor, Biodun Oyebanji and other stakeholders to urgently assist the community, ” as many of the affected people are currently homeless as a result of the unfortunate incident.”
The letter reads, ” We appreciate the commitment expressed by yourself on behalf of the State Government to assist the now displaced members of our community.
“We therefore respectfully request from the government a timely intervention as many of the affected people are currently homeless as a result of the unfortunate incident.
” The rainstorm destroyed houses and public facilities including electrification concrete poles which has also put the entire community in darkness.
” Your Excellency, as you have noticed during your visit, majority of the victims are aged and poor people who are in need of emergency reliefs.
” Once again, we appreciate you and wish the government will respond to this clarion call swiftly.”
