A rainstorm has blown off the roofs of over hundreds of houses in Akoko-Edo Local Government Area, Edo state.
The rainstorm also reportedly led to the collapse of buildings in some communities which includes, Ojirami, Oja, Dagbala, Ososo, Akuku and Ate.
The member representing Akoko- Edo 1, at the Edo State House of Assembly, Prince Yekini Idaiye, disclosed this on Monday in a motion under matters of urgent public importance.
Idiaye informed the parliament that “the incident occurred on March 3, 2025, “and in its wake, wreaked havoc on many Houses.”
The legislator appealed to his colleagues to support him in calling on relevant bodies and good spirited individuals to immediately provide palliatives for the affected communities.

Also contributing, the majority leader and member representing Ovia North East 1, Mr Charity Aiguobarueghian, and member representing Owan East who doubles as the minority leader, Mr Eric Okaka, said the rainstorm also wreaked havoc in some communities in their constituencies.
On his part, the member representing Etsako East, Hon Kingsley Ugabi, sympathised with the affected communities and called on the local government councils to encourage tree planting in their domains, to curb the menace of rainstorm.
The speaker, Mr Blessing Agbebaku, empathised with the victims.
He emphasised the need for residents to always plant trees in their places of residence in order to help mitigate the effect of rainstorm disaster.
The Assembly thereafter passed a resolution calling on the National Emergency Management Agency, (NEMA), State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) and other relevant authorities to as a matter of urgency assist victims of recent rainstorm disasters in the state.
