AL-FATIH-UL-QUAREEB Islamic Society of Nigeria has joined other faith groups and individuals in prayers for the quick return of President Muhammadu Buhari, who recently underwent medical treatment abroad, to full health.

According to a statement by the National Public Relations Officer, Abdul Lateef Famakinwa, the group was led in praying for the president by its acting Chief Missioner, Alhaji Sheik Lukuman, at the headquarters of Ikeja Local Government Area, in Lagos.

Those in attendance at the prayer session, the statement said, include the National President of the group, Alhaji Abdul Lateef Adebayo Ikotun; acting Deputy Missioner (Programmes), Alhaji Abdul Razaq Ireti Ola; the Board of Trustees (BoT) members, led by Alhaji Abdul Mumeen Adegoke; the Chairman, Elders Council, Alhaji I. A. Lawal and members of the group’s National Executive Council (NEC).

Al-Fatih-Ul-Quareeb also prayed God to bring about socio-economic stability in Nigeria.

In his sermon, the acting Deputy Missioner (Programmes), Alhaji Ireti Ola, who was supported by numerous eminent Islamic scholars, enjoined Nigerians, irrespective of religion, to always pray for the success of their leaders, as demanded by God.

According to him, leaders can only accomplish the task of redeeming the promises made to the people through the support and prayers of the people they govern.

He said Nigerians should always wish the president well and pray for the wellbeing of the country.

He enjoined politicians, whose parties are in power at different levels of government in the country, to always conduct themselves in accordance with the will of Allah.

He said this was necessary because they did not get to where they are by their own making but because God wanted them to serve the people.

“It is not by your making that you are where you are. It was by God’s will and, therefore, you must be ready to serve well, the people that put you in office”, Alhaji Ireti Ola said.
