Public collaboration crucial to fight against banditry — Army

The Nigerian Army’s North-West Operation Hadarin Daji (OPHD) has launched a toll-free emergency hotline for the public in Zamfara and Kebbi states, emphasising that public collaboration is essential for effectively combating banditry.

In a statement issued by Lieutenant Suleiman Omale, Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, 1st Brigade Nigerian Army, today in Gusau, the introduction of the toll-free emergency line was highlighted as a measure to enhance security and ensure the safety of citizens.

According to the statement, the toll-free line is part of OPHD’s comprehensive strategy to combat banditry within its area of responsibility and beyond.

“The newly launched toll-free line, 08000020202, is now available for emergency, complaint, and distress calls. OPHD urges members of the public to make responsible use of this line, emphasising that timely and accurate reporting can play a critical role in the fight against banditry,” Omale stated.

He further added, “OPHD is committed to leveraging innovative strategies to restore peace and security across the region. The public’s collaboration is crucial to the success of this mission, and OPHD remains steadfast in its dedication to protecting lives and property.”

This initiative aims to foster better communication between the public and the military, enabling swift responses to incidents of banditry and enhancing overall security in the affected regions.
