PTAD reiterates commitment to resolving all issues affecting DBS pensioners

Published by

THE Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD), has reiterated commitment to ensuring equitable administration and management of pension to the benefit of all the Defined Benefit Scheme pensioners under its payroll.

PTAD Executive Secretary, Dr. Chioma Ejikeme said this last week when she received a group of pensioners under the umbrella body of the Association of Retired Police Officers of Nigeria (ARPON).

On the issues of harmonisation, palliatives  and others affecting members, Ejikeme in her reactions said; “Our total commitment is to ensure the welfare of the Nigerian defined benefit pensioners. Our mission is to make sure that everybody is well taken care of. We will consolidate on whatever gains we have made since the last 10 years of the existence of PTAD.”

On the issue of harmonisation, she said “It is a memo that is desirable, important and needed. In terms of the harmonisation, please, bear with us. And I will let you people know what the outcome is. I have actually put in place the process to meet with the Minister of Humanitarian Services and Poverty Alleviation to know exactly how the pensioners will get their palliatives.

“As at now  I have not been told that there is any money that has been brought to PTAD for the payment of palliatives. There is no instruction to us concerning palliatives”

Earlier, Acting National President of ARPON, said; “We are here first and foremost to felicitate with you on your reappointment for the second term, as the Executive Secretary of the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate.

“Our members are very happy with you and your team and wish you fulfilling second term in office as you continue time to render rewarding services to retirees.

“We are concerned that the exercise carried out last year to harmonize pit pension rates rains unfruitful in lite of all that the Directoratd, under your able leaders put into that project. We must emphasize at this pint that thr condition of retirees, which we believe you are concerned able had continued to degenerate because of the failure of -giver mr t to fulfill their expections desires through promises of the previous government to better their lives.

“We therefore at the juncture, implore you at this your second and final coming, to collaborate with thr Chairman, a national Salaries, income and wage Commission to actualize this dram of all thr Federal Government pensioners who are getting impoverished with each passing day.

“Furthermore. We wish to pray you to do your best to ensure that we benefit from thr ongoing palliatives bring granted other Nigerians by the Federal government in the face of the worsening and harsh economic environment they fuel subsidy removal.”
