PTAD boss pledges transparency, accountability in discharge of duties

THE newly appointed Executive Secretary of the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD), Dr Chioma  Ejikeme, has pledged to ensure transparency and accountability in the administration of the pension fund.

She spoke at her first meeting with the management and staff of PTAD.

Ejikeme assured them that she would, among other things, be guided by the core values of the directorate namely: passion, transparency, accountability and drive.

She commended the management and staff for their hard work and dedication to the discharge of their responsibilities, especially during the Parastatals Pensioners Verification Exercise in the South-East which ended on Saturday, September 7.

She said that her mission is to continue to build on the legacies left by her predecessor now Minister of Environment (State), Sharon Ikeazor, with regard to restoring hope in pension administration and building trust among pensioners while also promoting good governance and best practices.

She noted that pensioners are now being treated with dignity and the respect they deserve.

The PTAD boss also welcomed new staff and encouraged them to learn about pension administration and policies guiding PTAD’s operations and service to pensioners from older staff.

She said: “I see that PTAD is one big happy family. I pray that it continues to be that way. I pray that the new staff will also be integrated into this new family and it will be a good experience for them as it has been for the older staff.”

While assuring them of her commitment to staff welfare, she encouraged them to continued to be punctual at work and dedicated to their assignments so that human errors would be minimized in service delivery.

Ejikeme noted that there was still a lot of work to be done, especially as the directorate continue to gather pensioners data to build a credible database.

She said: “There are now proper staff placements and promotions. It is going to be a continuous thing and we will make sure that hard work is rewarded at every level.”

Ejikeme reminded management and staff that PTAD as a technology driven, first class organisation must continue to remain top-notch.

She asked for their support, loyalty, dedication, passion, innovation and ideas that would take the directorate to the next level with regard to pension administration.

She commended the Federal Government’s reforms in the pension industry, adding that, “the introduction of the Contributory Pension Scheme will ensure that pension settlements are guaranteed”.

The Director, Corporate Services Department, Mr Babagana Kaigama, pledged the commitment, dedication, loyalty, co-operation and support of directors and staff to the executive secretary to ensure the success of the directorate.
