Oladele John Nihi, Vice President, West Africa, Pan-African Youth Union, has expressed deep concern over recent developments in Nigeria, where some individuals have called for a military takeover under the guise of the #EndBadGovernance protest.
Nihi strongly condemned these actions as “ridiculous, dangerous, and a threat to the democratic foundations of Nigeria”.
He urged Nigerians, particularly youths, to remain calm and peaceful, and to refrain from engaging in further protests or violence that could destabilise the country.
“I urge all Nigerians, particularly the youths, to remain calm and peaceful, and to refrain from engaging in any further form of protest or violence that could further destabilise the country.”
Nihi supports the Nigerian government’s efforts to address citizens’ grievances through peaceful and constitutional means.
His office is organising a 2-Day National Youth Dialogue on October 1-2, 2024, to bring together youth delegates to discuss and develop genuine demands to be presented to the government.
Nihi called on youths to exercise patience and work together to find a peaceful solution to Nigeria’s challenges, prioritising safety, security, and well-being.
