Protest rocks FUOYE as missing nursing student found dead

Some students of Federal University Oye Ekiti (FUOYE) have protested the death of one of their colleagues, Miss Modupe Deborah Atanda, who was earlier declared missing.

Tribune Online reports that the management of the institution had earlier announced the death of the year-two nursing student, who was found dead and buried in a shallow grave.

Since the death was confirmed late Wednesday, the students of the institution have continued to express their dissatisfaction over the unfortunate incident.

In the latest development, the students took to the university’s gate with placards bearing different inscriptions to demand justice over the killings.

In one of the protest videos posted by @Ekititrends on X (formerly Twitter), the institution’s students’ union government president, Comrade Ajayi Dotun Emmanuel, while addressing the aggrieved students, assured them that the students union will stop at nothing to get justice over the killings.

He further enjoined the students to be security conscious and report any suspicious move to the rightful channels.

He said, “I want to assure you that her body was not mutilated. Her body is intact. We are going to get the justice that we deserve. We don’t care how many doors we have to open, how many offices we have to go to before getting that justice, we are going to get it.

“I want to appeal to the students, all of us. We are our greatest resources and asset. This is the time for 43,000 FUOYE students to stand as one. Let us be security conscious. The moment you notice any strange movement, report it.”
