Protest: NSCDC deploys 1,600 officers in Niger

Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Niger State Command has deployed 1,600 officers and men to protect Critical National Assets and Infrastructure in the State.

The State Commandant, Mr.  Joachin Okafor, spoke through the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSC Abubakar M.R. Muti at the Command’s headquarters, David Mark Road,  in Minna, on  Wednesday.

The State Commandant announced that the Command has received a directive from the esteemed and visionary Commandant General, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi Mni, OFR, to enhance security measures for Critical National Assets and Infrastructure across the country.

Commandant Joachin has instantly instructed all Area Commanders and Divisional Officers to ensure comprehensive security coverage for these national assets, particularly the Kainji, Jebba, and Shiroro Hydro Power Dams being housed by Niger State.

He asserted that the primary concern of NSCDC is the safety and security of all citizens, as well as the protection of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure.

While respecting the right to peaceful protest, the Command, however, warned that it will not tolerate any attempt to compromise the security of the National Assets.

These assets, according to the Commandant are vital to the well-being and prosperity of the nation and they will do everything in their power to protect them.

Commandant Joachin Okafor also promised to work closely with other security agencies to ensure a peaceful and secure environment.

He expressed his gratitude to farmer Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, the Executive Governor of Niger State, for all the support the command has been receiving in the state.
