Protest: Low turn-out, normality in Jigawa as workers shun rally

Low turnout mar the nationwide protest organised by the Nigerian Labor Congress (NLC) and Trade Unions Congress (TUC) in Jigawa state as workers shunned protest rally and remained at their respective work places.

Report from the state indicated that trades and other businesses is going on normal as there is no much attention to the planned protest where people and workers in particular shunned the rally a result of allegedly poor mobilization by the state’s chapter of NLC.

Findings by Online Tribune in Dutse the state capital indicated that the local chapter of the NLC’s chairman, Comrade Sunusi Alhassan Maigatari led a scanty crowd to governor’s office and delivered the workers message to the governor.

Gathered by Online Tribune in the state that Comrade Sunusi Alhassan Maigatari failed to mobilizes all the NLC appellate union organizations despite the national NLC secretariat directives to all it’s branches for concrete arrangements and mobilization to ensure peaceful and successful protest.

Comrade Maigatari allegedly led few people whom were the leaders of some appellate unions and streets beggars (Almajiri) as most of workers were at their places of work carrying out their normal office activities

Speaking at government house Dutse, the labour chairman in the state, Comrade Sunusi Alhassan Maigatari said the reason for the peaceful demonstration is in protest on the policies imposed by the by federal government coursing serious harsh to Nigerians

On his part, the Jigawa state governor who was represented by his deputy engineer Aminu Usman Gumel promised to convey the NLC message to the governor and taking it’s up to president Bola Ahmed Tinibu for action.

He called on the protesters to be calm and be law-abiding so that the bad people attached would not take advantage of the protest and vandalize things on the process.

When contacted the chairman JIgawa state chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) through his mobile telephone on the poor crowd, Comrade Maigari said “sorry I’m holding a meeting presently”.

Going round the state capital by Nigerian Tribune gathered that public and private schools was opened and workers were available at federal and state’s secretariat.
