Protest: Gov Inuwa Yahaya convenes security meeting

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, on Tuesday, convened an expanded security meeting aimed at addressing the pressing security challenges in the state, particularly in light of the threat of impending nationwide protests.

The meeting had in attendance heads of security agencies in the state, local government chairmen, traditional rulers, and religious leaders.

This meeting, held behind closed doors, reviewed the current security situation in the country, with a special emphasis on the looming threat of protest.

Participants took turns to share their perspectives and suggestions on how best to navigate these challenging times and forge a path toward a more secure and prosperous Gombe State.

Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, while addressing the meeting, emphasised the importance of maintaining peace and order, stressing that the safety of all residents of Gombe State remains a top priority of his administration.

He urged leaders at various levels and security agencies to work closely and create a cohesive strategy that not only addresses immediate security concerns but also fosters long-term stability and development.

He reiterated the position of the Inspector-General of Police that all individuals planning to demonstrate or protest must properly identify themselves and follow the law by seeking the necessary security permissions and protection.

He assured the people of Gombe State that the government, in collaboration with security agencies and community leaders, is fully committed to safeguarding their well-being.
