Protest: FedPoly Bauchi assures adequate security for staff, students

Management and governing council of the Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi has assured that it will provide adequate security to members of the Polytechnic community when the planned nationwide protest against bad governance lasts.

In a release with REF: FPTB/CA/P.1 dated 30th July, 2024 titled ‘RE: Urgent Arrangements for the Security and Safety of Polytechnic Staff, Students and Property During the Proposed Nationwide Protests’ the Management and Council reiterated its commitment to protection of lives and properties.

The statement signed by the Ag. Registrar & Secretary to council, Abdullahi Garba, reads “Sequel to the current wave of uncertainty, occasioned by plans to embark on nationwide protest by unknown groups. We assure of safety.

“Accordingly, while noting that it is inalienable right of every Nigerian to peaceful protest, the protection of lives, safety of staff and students as well as the Polytechnic properties, remain sacrosant.

“For this reason, In its avowed determination to take proactive steps and measures, the governing council and management admonish all staff and students to remain vigilant.

The management and council also called that students are to remain on campus and focus on their academic pursuits so as to avoid exposure to any potential danger in the event of the planned protests.
