Protest: as Supreme Court delivers judgment on Sokoto, Kano, Bauchi, Benue guber elections

Security has beefed up in and around the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja as the Supreme Court commenced its verdicts on the governorship elections in some states of the Federation.

The affected states are Kano, Sokoto, Benue and Bauchi respectively

Already, two of the cases had been decided as the All Progressives Congress, APC retained Kano State while the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, retained Sokoto state respectively.

This is coming just as the members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, led by its National Chairman, Prince UCHE Secondus, began a mass protest on the streets of Abuja over the Supreme Court Verdict on the Imo State governorship election which removed Rt. Hon Emeka Ihedioha as the governor of the state.

The Protesters are demanding the immediate review and reversal of the verdict, insisting that the judgement would not stand.

The Security forces, comprising personnel of the Police, Civil Defence, Department of State Services(DSS) and the Military were on ground early enough to man strategic locations in the city.

The entire Three Arms Zones, housing the Presidential Villa, Aso Rock, the Supreme court, National Assembly Complex and the Federal Secretariat were completely locked down

Consequently, the city is now witnessing serious human traffic crisis

The protesters moved into the popular Eagle Square in various trucks fitted with loudspeakers blaring music

It was also observed that the Security forces were patrolling the streets in vans to monitor the Security situation while more Security forces are being moved to the three arms zone as the Nation awaits the Bauchi and Benue verdicts
