Protest: Abia residents react to Tinubu’s broadcat

Published by

Some Abia state residents have reacted to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s broadcast on the State of the Nation address on Sunday.

Some of those who listened to it, including a retired worker, MacArthur Nwamara, Methodist Bishop, Sunday Ndukwo Onuoha and a businessman, Uche Nwokocha and a business guru, Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa described the President as not having said anything meaningful or addressed the problem of Nigeria at the moment – the issue of hunger and the issue of high cost of governance.

While MacArthur Nwamara said, “the President did not say anything,” Chief Uche Nwokocha said, “the speech was vague.”

According to the Bishop Sunday Ndukwo Onuoha, “I don’t even know what the President said. That is my response. I listened to Mr. President. The handlers have not done well. I think his handlers would have done a bit more better. There is nothing that Mr President said that we did not know. We were waiting to hear from what we did not know in that speech, There was nothing new in that package. I wish he can come out tomorrow and do another speech. We are waiting for another speech.”

Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa said. ” the country is facing two crisis, one is cost of living and the other one is cost of governance crisis.

“Unfortunately, all the issues he raised dealt on cost of living crisis. But the main point is cost of governance and in that area, he didn’t do much and that is where people are still more dissatisfied.

“We are hoping he will tell us what he is doing to cut cost of governance. What we cannot reconcile is that people are tightening their belt, but the government is not tightening it’s belt. People are hungry, but the government is eating.”
