The Proprietor of Mount Zion International School, Ring Road, Ibadan , Oyo, State, Mrs Joy Adeniji, has appealed to the state government and other education stakeholders in the state, to find a lasting solution to education unrest in the state, especially at the public primary and secondary school levels
She made the appeal on Wednesday, during the school’s 2016 valedictory service and prize-giving day, on the college’s premises.
According to her, the state government, teachers, parents and the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) state chapter, should make haste to resolve the issue in the interest of the innocent children being deprived of the their right to education
She lamented that many of the public school students were roaming the streets, and engaging themselves in hawking and other immoralities
“It has become obvious that government alone cannot fund education. In view of this development, parents should endeavour to support the education of their wards in public schools in kind and cash,” she stated.
