The growing habit of unsolicited tips comes under the spotlight in this week’s edition of Professor Johnbull, the hilarious TV series sponsored by next generation network, Globacom.
Aptly themed: “Find Me Something”, the episode which is the 6th in Season Two, highlights the negative effects of the habit on society and on the mind of those involved in it. It will be broadcast at 8.30 p.m. on Tuesday, on NTA Network, NTA International on DSTV Channel 251 and NTA on StarTimes. There will also be a repeat broadcast of the series on Friday, at the same time, on the same stations.
A statement released by Globacom explained the choice of the theme for the episode as being informed by the widespread habit, whereby people expect to be given tips for delivering services, for which they are duly employed, not minding whether the client is able to give out the gratification or not.
“The ‘happy weekend syndrome,’ especially among people who should ordinarily render services without expecting gratification, is becoming worrisome and needs to be addressed. Viewers of the TV Series would find the episode doing justice to the social ill, as Professor Johnbull bares his mind on the issue this Tuesday,” the company said in the statement.
Globacom promised that the episode would be entertaining as usual, as viewers would find out what “Find me Something” is all about. The episode will provide answers to questions such as: Who is involved in the antics? Will Churchill and Flash fall for Samson’s shenanigan as he plays the ‘solicited tips’ card on them? How does Professor Johnbull handle his gateman’s penchant for asking for tips? Is ‘Oga find me something’ a societal issue or an individual problem? Why did Professor Johnbull abandon his much cherished nkwobi midway at Olaniyi’s restaurant?
Experienced Nollywood actor, Charles Okafor, makes a guest appearance on the show, Globacom added. He joins the moral conscience of the sitcom, Kanayo O. Kanayo (Professor Johnbull), in condemning the practice of soliciting for tips, and suggesting how the syndrome can be curbed.
The regular faces of the comedy show, including Ufoma (Bimbo Akintola), Churchill (Jnr Pope Odonwodo), Flash (Stephen Odimgbe), Olaniyi (Yomi Fash-Lanso), Jumoke (Bidemi Kosoko), Elizabeth (Queen Nwokoye) and Professor Johnbull (Kanayo O. Kanayo), all feature in Find Me Something.
