Mr Aluko Rotimi, a Kogite and member of Government Secondary Dekina Class of 1973-77 joins 57 other World class Scientists to become Fellows of the Royal Society of Canada (RSC).
Aluko Rotimi who is a Professor of Nutrition is a Tier 1 Scholar and teaches in the Department of Food and Human Nutritional Sciences, University of Manitoba, Canada.
In a statement issued, the renowned Food and Nutritional Scientist will on Friday, November 17, be inducted into the Class of 2023 new RSC Fellows for outstanding research and scholarly achievement.
Prof. Aluko Rotimi is from Iyamoye in Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State and a former student of Government Secondary School, Dekina (GSSDEKINA OLD BOY) Class of 1973-77.
ALUKO Rotimi, in addition to this achievement currently holds the Chair of the Department of Food and Human Nutritional Sciences, University of Manitoba
Tier 1 Canada Research, and has pioneered research on the production and use of novel food proteins as nutritional tools to maintain human health and prevent diseases.
His groundbreaking work has established the structural and functional basis to facilitate the development of food-derived peptides as potent health-promoting agents.
In 2022, he received the American Oil Chemists’ Society Lifetime Achievement Award for Protein and Co-Product research, Academy of Science.
One hundred and one new Fellows have been elected by their peers for their outstanding scholarly, scientific and artistic achievement. Recognition by the RSC for career achievement is the highest honour an individual can achieve in the Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences and Sciences.
Speaking on this accomplishment, the Headboy of the Class of 1977-73, Dr Daniel Ademu, thanked God for the life of Professor Aluko.
He said he was not surprised at the Award because the “foundation of GSSDEKINA imbibe in us has paid out not just in Nigeria but within international Committee of Scientists.
He wished Professor Aluko and all Members of the Class of 1973-77 greater accomplishments.
