Pro chancellor seeks more funds for IBB varsity

THE Pro-Chancellor, and Chairman, Ibrahim Babangida University (IBBU) Lapai, Dr Mohammed Kudu Santuraki, has indicated that the current funding system of the institution is insufficient and called for increase in the monthly subvention by the state government.

This, he said is imperative with the view that the vision of the university becoming best among citadels of learning in the world could be realised.

He made the observation while speaking at the Inaugural meeting of the 4th Council of the University in Lapai, the permanent campus of the university.

Dr Santuraki, in the institution’s press bulletin stated further that university education across the world is capital intensive and stressed the need to explore more robust sources of internally generated revenue to augment government’s subventions so as to provide state of the arts facilities in the state owned university.

The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Council, however, commended the management for the feats achieved so far at the university, while maintaining that concerted efforts would be made to consolidate on the past gains and build more solid foundation that will accelerate the development of the university to lofty heights.

He thereby expressed the determination to put his wealth of experience at the disposal of the university for the desired growth and development of the institution, just as he charged relevant stakeholders to cooperate with the Council.

Dr Santuraki also assured the state government that deliberate steps would be taken both by the new council members led by him in conjunction with the management to reposition the institution for research and learning activities  that would  be appreciated not only in Nigeria, but at international community.

He, therefore, expressed appreciation for the confidence reposed in the new members of the 4th Council by the Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello-led administration in the state.
