THE Southeast chapter of the Buhari Support Organisation (BSO) has called on Ndigbo to back the President Muhammadu Buhari administration, saying the change agenda of the All Progressives
Congress (APC) led-Federal Government has come to inculcate discipline in Nigerians for the nation to move forward.
Speaking at a press conference in Enugu on Monday ahead of the organisation’s preparation for the national committee of Buhari support groups summit in Enugu, the chairman of the organising
committee, Chief Anike Nwoga, said APC is covering more grounds in Igbo land, stressing that many people have been decamping from their political parties en-mass to APC.
Chief Nwoga said, “We are happy with the massive entry into APC of Igbo sons and daughters after the 2015 general elections. Our meeting of 21st January is to strategise on how to give our brothers
and sisters a rousing welcome in the months ahead. For us, it is a celebration that majority of Igbos are acknowledging the efforts of President Muhammadu Buhari towards improving the infrastructure base in the South-East, which wallowed in dilapidation during the 16 years rule of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), a party that Ndigbo gave 100 per cent support.
According to him, “The massive influx into the APC in the South-East is also a testimony that our people are happy with the transparency exhibited by the current APC led Federal Government in
managing the lean resources accruing to the country today as a result of the crash in crude oil prices.
“In just 24 months, the current Buhari led All Progressives Congress (APC) administration has achieve what its predecessors in PDP led Federal Government failed to do on the roads in the Southeast
region. For instance, Aba-Calabar, Umuahia-Ikot Ekpene, Owerri-Port Harcourt Enugu-Onitsha and Enugu-Port Harcourt expressways in 16 years. In the 2017 budget, the Southeast region got an allocation of N26bn for road projects, with Anambra State getting N13.7bn; Abia State, N1.3bn; Ebonyi Sate, N1.4bn; Enugu State, N7.5bn, while Imo State got N2.2bn.”
“We may recall that penultimate week the Federal Executive Council approved additional N16billion payment for the construction of the second Niger Bridge. The job has commenced. This underscores Mr President’s commitment to raising the infrastructure base of the South-East as to industrial and commercial region of the country.
“As you are equally aware, the Federal Government recently released N388.304 billion as refunds of over-deductions on London-Paris Club loans, of which Enugu State got N9 billion.
“In conclusion, we wish to use this opportunity to once again appeal to Ndigbo to have faith in the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari. We are optimistic that in the fullness of time, the
Buhari administration will fulfil all promises made to the South-East region; especially Enugu Coal industry,” he concluded.
