Prince Kolawole emerges President of Lokoja club 1901

THE Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Prince Matthew Kolawole has been elected as the President of the oldest Club in Nigeria, Lokoja Club 1901 at the Annual General Meeting of the club held in Lokoja on Thursday night.

Speaking shortly after his victory, Prince Kolawole said he was determined to move the club to the next level of development.

According to him, his leadership experience as speaker of the state Assembly will help in the administration and transformation of the oldest club in Nigeria.

He called on the members to do more in order to enable the new executive to achieve the desired objectives and solicited the cooperation of members.

Chairman of the credential committee, Barrister Samuel Ichado Akoji commended members of the club for their orderly conduct saying the best candidates were elected for the various positions

He urged the new executive to work as a team to move the club to the next level.

Also speaking, the outgoing President of the club, Comrade Tom Abutu noted that much was achieved during his tenure and expressed optimism that the new president would bring his wealth of experience to bear in the discharge of his responsibilities.

Comrade Abutu expressed appreciation to the members for their cooperation so far, especially as demonstrated through the peaceful election.

The outgoing president explained that Lokoja Club 1901 as the oldest club in Nigeria was yet to reach the desired level of development.

Others elected are Dan Usman Vice President, Professor Jeremiah Ayak Treasurer, Moses Onoturu Financial Secretary, Lawrence William General secretary and Adoga Kabir Social secretary.

The rest are Hajia Fatima Agaba as Lady House leader, Alhaji S. A. Chogudo Internal Auditor, Joe Onawu Sports secretary, Alhassan Zekeri Dubu, House Secretary, Abu Sule Public Relations Officer and Ahmed Attai as Barrister Secretary.

The AGM was attended by some personalities which include some state legislators, clerk of the House and other government functionaries in the state.
