Prevail on OGBC management to pay our allowances ―Workers appeal to Amosun

Published by

WORKERS of the Ogun State Broadcasting Corporation (OGBC) has appealed to Governor Ibikunle Amosun to prevail on the management of the organization to be accountable to its workforce.

This was contained in a statement jointly signed by the chairmen of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) and Radio Television and Theatre Arts Workers Union (RATTAWU), Comrades Biodun Ogundipe and Ayo Aina, made available to Sunday Tribune, in Abeokuta, on Friday.

The unions expressed displeasure over four months salaries being owed its members; unremitted pension deductions from 2012 till date; unremitted National Housing Fund and about N7 million owed the Cooperative Society of the state owned radio.

They therefore called on Amosun and the State government to prevail on the management of the radio corporation to do the needful or embark on strike.

Both Ogundipe and Aina acknowledged the fact that the government under Amosun had been magnanimous by increasing monthly subvention accured to the Station from N3.5m to N10m.

They equally appreciated the release of N9.5m in 2014 by the State government for the purchase of a modern digital studio equipment.

Their demand is that outstanding salaries and allowances be paid latest by Tuesday, else they embark on total strike.

“Our station is a revenue generating agency and we make money apart from the government subvention, where are the monies?  Are they been judiciously spent?  Are they been used to meet the needs of staffers of the station or satisfy a few that feed on the sweat of others? These are the questions begging for answers.

“Our appeal to our amiable and workers’ friendly governor is to step into the case of our dear station OGBC and clear off the dark and heavy clouds that cast shadows on our survival and block the ray of hope of our today and tomorrow,” the statement read.
