Rotary Club of Ibadan Prestige, last Thursday, visited two orphanage houses in Ibadan, Oyo State. where they donated food items, beverages, pampers and other baby needs.
Speaking during the visit, President, Rotary Club of Ibadan Prestige, Lanre Balogun, said “this is just the beginning good thing to come from Rotary Prestige as we are ready to continue to support the needy in society.”
The Club president charged other well-meaning Nigerians and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to cater for the wellbeing of the needy around them in order to save the future of the country.
Balogun said: “The theme for Rotary International this year is to ‘Serve to Change Lives’, so. Rotarians should provide amenities in areas where we do not need it ourselves, provide water to those lacking it, provide shelter for those who need it and also provide so other things for the wellbeing of the needy around us.
“We believe in Rotary International that we should do what we need to do to make life better for people and that is why the slogan says ‘Serve to Change Lives’. So part of what we are doing today is what we have tagged ‘Helping the needy’, where we are donating food items to Ibadan Home for Motherless babies, UCH, Ibadan and Jesus Children Missions Outreach, New Bodija, Ibadan.
“What we do in cases like this, we come to the place and do an assessment and know their needs and once we do that, we do our presentations. Today, what we provided included mosquito nets, rice, beverages, clothes, diapers, toiletries and soaps among other things.
“When we do things like this, indirectly, we are helping ourselves and the future of our own children.
Also, the Community Service Director of Rotary Club of Ibadan Prestige, Bankole Oyewole, said the club made the donation as part of its priorities as its belief as a humanitarian club, which is giving to the needy.”
