Press and the liberation of the poor

Published by

The stumbling blocks to a new era are those who do not want to see the poor liberated from the continuing bondage of poverty, deprivation and suffering. The press has vital information in its custody that can remove the stumbling blocks. There is an overwhelming majority that remain dreadfully poor, and are still suffering under the harshest of living conditions. In many places, they are without electricity or pipe borne water. They eke out a living in shameful manner in a country as wealthy as Nigeria. Yet, the politicians who share the wealth of the country live like kings in castles and mansions in the plushest areas of cities.

The wind has blown and we have seen the nakedness of politicians stealing the nation dry. The press has the records. In recent times, we have not seen a leader who identifies with the sufferings of the people.

Will the likes of the great sage and legend ever emerge again in Nigeria? He reached such heights of extraordinary courage, even in the grimmest of times in prison. Men of character and wisdom that are of his like may never be seen or known again in Nigeria.
