Presidential Support Committee assures Buhari of victory in South-East

The Presidential Support Committee (PSC) in South-East has assured President Muhammadu Buhari of victory in the region, in the 2019 presidential election.

South-East Zonal Coordinator and Chairman of PSC, Mr Chermberline Adiaso gave the assurance on Friday in Umuahia during the formal inauguration of the committee’s zonal leadership and state executive officers.

Adiaso said the South-East gave Buhari 200,000 votes only during the 2015 elections but expressed optimism that it would give him bulk votes in 2019.

He said that the President had done very well particularly for the South-East, within the past three and half years of his administration, which he said, clearly defeated the misinformation and persistent refusal of “doubting Thomases.”

The zonal coordinator highlighted the positive gains and impact of the “Change” mantra of Buhari from 2015 to date, especially in the sustained and focused fight against corruption, insecurity and improvement of the economy.

According to him, the committee will penetrate all the nooks and crannies of the region to sensitise people to re-elect Buhari.

“The 2023 Igbo Presidency Agenda is not only realisable by sticking with President Muhammadu Buhari, but would also be a watershed in the lives of the Igbo.

“The opportunity and chances have never been this bright, glaring and inviting since the return of democracy in 1999. It is absolutely our choice to make,” he said.

Similarly, Mr Gideon Sammani, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Political Affairs and Facilitator of the PSC, expressed happiness over the large turnout at the inauguration ceremony.

According to him, the turnout is an indication that the region will massively vote for Buhari in 2019.

Sammani, who was the special guest, said the South-East gave Buhari 200,000 votes in 2015 but expressed hope that they would give him nothing less than five million votes in 2019.

Sammani noted that the president was very proud of the Igbo because they are very enterprising.

“You are the first to do the inauguration. Other regions are saying, we are coming, we are coming,” he said.

He dismissed the insinuation that the president hated Igbo people, saying that he had their interests at heart.

The presidential aide disclosed that Buhari had approved the payment of pension of the ex-Biafran soldiers and the police.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the event brought together representatives of various support groups and critical stakeholders in the Buhari’s re-election project from the five South-East states of Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo.
