Dr Ankeli
THE Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on disability matters, Dr Samuel Ankeli, has urged the National Assembly to expedite action on the passage of disability bill before it.
Ankeli, made this appeal when he paid a courtesy visit on Alhaji Aliko Dangote foundation recently, where he solicited the support of the foundation in discussing with the leadership of the Senate to pass the disability bill.
He said the bill if passed into law would go a long way in assisting people living with disability in the country.
The presidential aide said there was the need for the mobilisation of persons with disability for national development, while explaining that the school enrolment project for children with disability was necessary because UNICEF report had showed that, of the 13 million children that are out of school in Nigeria, three millions of them were living with disabilities.
Managing Director of the Alhaji Aliko Dangote foundation, Zouera Youssoufou, said if the disability bill before the National Assembly was passed, eighty per cent of issues with people living with disability would have been addressed.
The Managing Director of the foundation promised to liaise with the leadership of the National Assembly for the quick passage of the disability bill and also pledged to look at areas the foundation can support people living with disability in the country.
