Presidency: I am prepared to move Nigeria forward ― Tambuwal

Aminu Tambuwal

PRESIDENTIAL aspirant on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon Aminu Tambuwal, who is also the governor of Sokoto State, on Wednesday in Lagos said he possesses the competence and credentials to move the country forward if elected into office in 2019.

According to Tambuwal, who is currently on tour of the Federation meeting and wooing party delegates preparatory to the PDP National Convention holding in Port-Harcourt where the party’s candidate would emerge, the country is currently facing serious economic and security challenges which required a leader with the right solutions.

Tambuwal made this assertion while addressing party leaders and delegates during his visit to the PDP secretariat at Sogunle, Ikeja.

The presidential hopeful assured that he was prepared for the job to pilot the affairs of the country to greatness, saying he had robust leadership experience to accomplish such task having understood the complexities of governance.

Tambuwal, who served as speaker, House of Representatives for four years between 2011 and 2015, therefore, urged Nigerians to trust him to reposition the country.

“I am prepared for the job. I have served the nation in many capacities as Speaker of the House of Representatives, as governor among other positions.

“I understand the complexities the governance. You can trust me to reposition the country to the next level. I have the experience, I have the passion, I believe in the Nigerian project,” the presidential hopeful said.

Speaking further, Tambuwal said if given the opportunity, he would address all the problems within a short period of time, promising to restructure the country as he remained a firm believer in fiscal federalism.

While noting that Lagos occupied a politically strategic position in the country, Tambuwal lamented that PDP had not been able to win it’s control since 1999, expressing optimism that the party would win it as he was ready to give his support to make the goal a reality.

He urged delegates from the state to show truly that they were from a state of excellence by voting for “an excellent aspirant.”

Tambuwal, however, assured that he would not forget people of Lagos if he was voted at the party’s convention and as next president of Nigeria.

Chairman of PDP in the state, Dr Adegbola Dominic, in his remark, thanked Tambuwal for the visit, saying that he had no doubt that he had what it takes to be president of Nigeria and that the party believed in his aspiration.
