The Presidency has dismissed reports suggesting that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has either sacked or replaced the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmood Yakubu.
The reports, which gained widespread attention early Monday, claimed that Yakubu had been removed from his position and replaced by one Prof. Bashiru Olamilekan.
Reacting to the development in a statement issued on Monday, Special Adviser to the President on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, described the claims as false and misleading.
He stated that any decision or official action taken by the President would be communicated through established and authorised channels, not through speculation or rumours.

Bwala also urged the public to disregard the rumour in its entirety, stressing that it holds no element of truth.
The statement reads, “The story trending across media platforms to the effect that Mr President @officialABAT has either sacked the INEc chairman or has replaced the INEC chairman is not true and should be discountenanced.
“Decisions and or official acts of Mr President are communicated through official channels and not rumor.”
