Preserve your dignity, NYSC DG urges female corps members

THE director-general of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier-General Shuaibu lbrahim, has advised female corps members to preserve their dignity as women at all times.

He also warned corps members against being susceptible to any form of bribery, urging them to shun all forms of indiscipline and corrupt practices.

The NYSC boss gave the advice while addressing the 2019 Batch ‘B’ Stream One corps members during his orientation camp tour of Benue and Taraba states.

He described corps members as national assets that should serve as role models, adding that there was the need for them to respect the NYSC bye-laws, oath of allegiance, national anthem and other statutory laws during their service year.

He further urged them to embrace the skills acquisition and entrepreneurship development programme of the NYSC  designed to make them employers of labour and not job seekers.

At the Enugu camp, the director-general urged corps members to make use of opportunities provided by NYSC programmes within the one year service to become wealth creators.

He charged  them to participate in the in-camp and post-camp training on skills acquisition and entrepreneurship development.

Ibrahim added that NYSC management has partnered the Bank of Industry, the Central Bank of Nigeria and other institutions to grant loans to corps members who present good business proposals.

He said: “Youths are the engine of growth of any country and it is ideas that bring money. Take advantage of the skills acquisition programme and remain focused; be disciplined and with the knowledge of whatever you studied, the sky is your limit.

“Avoid cultism, drugs and crime. Be patriotic to your country and let you names be written in gold,” he said.
