Present crop of politicians have failed Nigerians —Bishop Adewole

Published by

Nigerians have been admonished to always appoint responsible, capable and competent people into positions of authority, in all facets of life.

Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Jebba, Right Reverend Sunday Adewole, gave the charge in a sermon at the installation of Pastor Sunday Adebayo Babalola as the Baba Egbe of the Cathedral of St. Paul Anglican Church, Omu-Aran, Kwara State.

Adewole, who stressed the need for leaders to be ready to sacrifice their talents, time and resources for the good of their people, tasked the new Baba Egbe to see his appointment as a call to service.

Earlier, the Bishop, Cathedral of St. Paul Anglican Church, Omu-Aran Diocese, Right Reverend Philip Adeyemo, charged the Baba Egbe to work towards the progress of the church and continue to promote unity, peace and love among the people.

In his own address, Pastor Babalola, charged leaders to be responsible and responsive to yearnings of people.

“Almost all the politicians we have on seat today have not satisfied the yearnings of the people in terms of delivery of the dividends of democracy, prudential management of resources, transparency and accountability, especially those in Kwara.

“We need to remind that there is a day they will wake up and not be able to lead themselves and people will carry them to the grave and they will answer to their Maker. Enough is enough; they should do the right thing. They should ensure prudential management of resources and do what is right,” he stated.

On the forthcoming elections, the 2011 and 2015 PDP governorship aspirant in Kwara State advised politicians and Nigerians in general to elect people not on party basis.

He thanked God and the Anglican Church for the honour given to him, promising to continue to be committed to the service of God and humanity.
