He said the present situation in the country necessitated the prayer for the peaceful conduct of the general elections.

According to him, only fervent prayers of the righteous will help prevent any form of violence or distractions.

He commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the preparations made so far to ensure that the elections were successful.

He called on all relevant stakeholders to support the electoral umpire towards achieving peaceful and free elections.

“I want to appeal to security personnel, journalists, academicians, corps members among others who would play key roles in the coming elections to kindly support the electoral umpire in achieving credible and peaceful elections,’’ Okunade said.

He equally appealed to various political parties to take the outcome of the general elections in good faith, adding that politics was not a do or die affair.
